Ok folks it’s time to kill the “Political Correct Fairy”,
and revive the “Common Sense Fairy”; let’s get off this “Green Energy”
bandwagon, and come up with some real, viable solutions. Now before you assume that I don’t care for
the environment, know this: I own 2 vehicles both of which are 4 cylinder and
get > 25 MPG. I recycle, I loathe
people who litter, and I keep my house at around 63 degrees Fahrenheit. I try
to do my part to consume less, in part because it costs less. I believe that vehicles could do better on
gas mileage, in fact they have: remember
the GEO line? Some of those vehicles got
almost 50 MPG—what happened? I’ll tell you what happened, we got on this green
energy kick, and it got out of control.
They want everyone to drive a hybrid, or a smart car; we’ll I’ll tell
you what, when you can strap a snow plow to a Toyota Prius, or fit your kids
hockey gear in a Smart Car, let me know.
Those “green” vehicles may serve those well who reside in Greenwich Village,
NY, but the fact is a large percentage of Americans live in rural areas,
inherent with that comes needs of certain types of vehicles, such as a Pickup Truck;
god forbid… This isn’t going to change
anytime soon, so why aren’t we harvesting more oil? At least until a feasible solution is on the
table, not just a “beautiful people” solution.
Oh yes, and by the way, harvesting oil would create good paying jobs—we wouldn’t
want that, now would we… The fossil fuel
argument is just the start of how ridiculous things have gotten.
How about those new toilets?
They are designed to “save water”.
Except they don’t save any water because now you have to flush them 2-3
times so they will work—using more water than the old toilets that sent Mr.
Hanky away in one try. How about those
new light bulbs? They not only cost an
arm and a leg, but also force you to buy additional lighting fixtures so you
can see what the hell you are doing; did I mention that they have mercury in them(Something
that WILL kill you)? Just saying… Oh yes, and my solar powered watch I bought. Designed so you never have to buy a battery;
except it doesn’t work! I have to leave
it in the dash board of my car to recharge for 2 days, so it will work for one
day. So I really don’t have too much
faith in solar power either. Honestly, I believe the American people are
being led to believe that buying this crap will save the environment, and stop “Global
Warming, or Climate Change” whatever the
hell they are calling it these days.
They hit you with the guilt trip that if you don’t buy this “Green”
stuff you are destroying the earth, and you are an ignorant, racist,
bigot. What race has to do with this, I
don’t know, but it seems like those three words run together no matter what,
when you disagree with a liberal.
Everyone can do their small part to help consume less and recycle. Recycling is good, and it creates jobs, so everyone benefits. By using less fuel, we save money, and emit less pollution; that makes sense. But flushing my toilet more than once, doesn’t make sense, paying astronomically for hybrids, and light bulbs, doesn’t make sense, not drilling for our own oil DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! Even if we got the technology tomorrow to completely get off fossil fuel, would the government come replace my furnace? What about my vehicles? Lawnmower, chainsaw or snow blower? I don’t think so; it will take more than 2 decades for the majority of people to replace this stuff.
I am going to leave you with one final note on “Climate
Change”. I’m sure we all learned in
school about Dinosaurs, and the Ice Age and all that good scientific history. We’ll guess what, there are no more Tyrannosaurus
Rex’s running around anymore, unless you are on the Jurassic Park Ride at Universal
Studios. I don’t believe that their extinction
was caused by Cadillac Escalades and toilets that used too much water. Climate change was happening long before
humans were beating their chest outside of a cave, and it will continue for eternity. Light bulbs and hybrids will not stop the
inevitable; so let’s stop being foolish and making people rich on our
stupidity.
